Year 6 Transition Afternoon and Junior Secondary Open Afternoon Walking Tour
On Tuesday, 28 July, we will be hosting opportunities for Year 6 students and their families, to find out more about Lowood State High School.
Students will travel to Lowood State High School by bus (free of charge), from their primary school, and participate in a range of activities with the aim of developing their understanding of:
expectations and routines in high school (RISE Values, uniform, behaviour and attendance)
skills for reading a timetable and navigating their way around high school
subjects and electives that Year 7 students will have the option of selecting in 2027

Equipment: Lunch, water bottle, pencil case

The “Phones away for the Day' policy applies on all school activities and excursions. Consequences will apply to students who do not follow Lowood State High School's Mobile Phone Policy.
A timetable of bus pick-ups from each primary school will be provided closer to the date.
The Lowood State High School – Open Afternoon Walking Tour
The Year 6 Transition Afternoon will be immediately followed by the Junior Secondary Open Afternoon Walking Tour. All parents and carers who intend to enrol their student in Year 7 in 2027 should attend with their student. Therefore, a return bus will not be provided and parents/carers are responsible for ensuring their student is collected from the Lowood State High School Hall at 3:00pm if they are not attending the Junior Secondary Open Afternoon Walking Tour. Students will be supervised by staff at Lowood State High School until 3:15pm when the tour starts.

The Year 6 Transition Afternoon and Junior Secondary Open Afternoon Walking Tour will enable students to engage in at least three of our PERMAH Pillars:
E – Positive Engagement – participation in learning and activities that will support engagement at high school
R – Positive Relationships – opportunities to make new friends who will also be attending LSHS next year
H – Positive Health – learning about their well-being as they transition to high school
Please complete the attached Activity Consent Form and return to Lowood State High School by 3:00pm Friday, 17 July 2026. You can do this by handing your Activity Consent Form into the Lowood SHS Office or emailing it to office@lowoodshs.eq.edu.au.
N.B. - DO NOT RETURN YOUR ACTIVITY CONSENT FORM TO YOUR PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHER OR PRIMARY SCHOOL OFFICE.
