Lowood State High School established the Football Academy in 2016. Students in Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 have the opportunity to join the program as an Elective Subject.
Since its establishment, the program has attained sponsorships from various local businesses and are fortunate to have a strong relationship with the Lowood RSL Sub Branch who allow us the use of their 11-seater vehicle. Our sponsors provide funds that allow the subsidising of costs towards to students per tournament, provide a full playing kit to the students in the Academy and subsidise the Football Presentation Evening at the end of each year.
Students in the Academy will be guided by AFC/FA 'C' Licence coaches. This qualification is from an advanced coaching course which specialises in the skill acquisition and game training area of football. The aim of the program is to develop skilful and intelligent footballers equipped to have the ability to solve various football problems in complex environments.
In the Football Academy, students will have the opportunity to:
- Enjoy learning in an outdoor and indoor environment
- Develop football and futsal (indoor soccer) skills and knowledge
- Represent the school in both futsal and football tournaments
- Improve teamwork and leadership skills
- Have fun with friends whilst being active
