The Hands on Learning students attended an excursion on the 1st of April to the Rail Trail Gardens.
The purpose of the excursion was to setup small bird nesting boxes and meet Pete, from Pete's Hobby Nursery who looks after the gardens on the trail. The students had a great time, setting up the nesting boxes (with their camouflage paint jobs) in amongst the Brigalow trees.
The students had prepared some questions for Pete about his role and the planting on the trail. It was great to see some of them asking some really good follow up questions.
They ventured down the trail so the students could take pictures of the flowers and wildlife with the aim of entering the photo competition at the Lowood show.
Following that they had lunch in the Lowood town park, then back to school to get back into Hands on Learning project's.
They all thoroughly enjoyed the experience, with one student stating “that they really needed that".
