Lowood State High School established the Football Academy in 2014. Students in Years 8, 9 and 10 have the opportunity to join the program as an Elective Subject.
Since its establishment, the program has attained sponsorships from various local businesses and partnered with organisations including the Australian Futsal Association.
In the Football Academy, students will have the opportunity to:
- Enjoy learning in an outdoor environment
- Develop football and futsal (indoor soccer) skills and knowledge
- Represent the school in both futsal and football tournaments
- Improve teamwork and leadership skills
- Have fun with friends whilst being active
Students from the Football Academy, compete in various South-East and Queensland based competitions including:
- CISSSA Futsal/Football
- Chantelle Cramb Cup (2020 Under 15 Girls and Open Boys Champions)
- Brisbane Metro Titles
- South-West Titles
- North Brisbane Titles
- Champion of Champions (qualified 2019, 2021)
- Winter/Summer State Titles
- SEQ Futsal Challenge
- Bill Turner Cup
- Red Lions Cup
