Certificate II Dance (CUA20120)

Rationale:

The Certificate II course in Dance will provide participants with the knowledge and skills to demonstrate a range of technical skills in solo and group dance performances.


The course will enhance the individual's performance and choreographic s kills and overall confidence in the dance arena. The qualification is a preparatory qualification that allows dancers to develop basic technical skills and knowledge to prepare for work in the dance industry. Students take responsibility for the standard and effort output in each class, by seeking feedback from their teachers and mentors. Students explore 3 dance styles for their training during this course including Jazz, Contemporary and Hip Hop, of which they will have weekly participation in dance classes and learn routines for live performance. Units can allow students QCE points towards their year 12 Certificate. 


Course Structure:

There are 10 units of competency within this qualification, 7 core units and 3 elective units.

ELECTIVE

CUADAN215                          Perform basic contemporary dance techniques

CUADAN213                          Perform basic jazz dance techniques

CUADAN218                          Perform basic street dance techniques

 

 

Assessment:

Certificate II students are assessed in a performance setting within live dance performances, and are required to feature their routines within Arts Showcase. Assessment tools comprise of theory booklets, performance observations, case studies and a seminar presentation.

 

Pathways:

This qualification is designed to develop introductory skills in live performance. Students may use this qualification as background knowledge to enter further qualifications in Dance or Live Performance. 

 

Costs:

A materials cost is associated with this course to ensure that all requirements are available for the students. This cost will be approximately $50.00,​ however, exact costs will be confirmed closer to the commencement date of the course.
