YEAR 6 TO 7 TRANSITION TO LOWOOD STATE HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM

Enrolments bookings for 2024 will be available online from 17 July 2023

Enrolment interviews are mandatory for all students entering Year 7 in 2024

TERM 1

Week 10

Thursday, 30 March

Day of Excellence – Digital TechnologiesLocal Primary School students will be invited to attend Lowood SHS for a Day of Excellence.  Students will participate in activities that aim to extend their knowledge and skills.

Years 5 and 6

Max. 30 students

TERM 2
Weeks 6-8Visits to primary schoolsStaff from Lowood SHS will visit primary schools to deliver information to Year 6 students regarding their transition to high school.Year 6

Week 9

Thursday, 15 June

Day of Excellence - WritingLocal Primary School students will be invited to attend Lowood SHS for a Day of Excellence.  Students will participate in activities that aim to extend their knowledge and skills.Years 5 and 6

Building My Future

 

Lowood SHS is hosting the annual subject and careers event. This event is designed for Year 6 into 7 enrolling students, as well as all other year levels. We recognise the importance of allowing students to be able to see all of the opportunities possible and see each year as a 'building block' to their eventual future pathway.Year 6

7:00am – 5:00pm

All Year 6 students must be interviewed with parent/carer.

Book an interview directly via the link on the Lowood SHS website (available from Week 2 Term 3). Alternatively, phone Lowood SHS on 5427 8333 directly.

Year 6 Bursary Application DUEYear 6 students can apply for a Bursary to assist in their start to their Secondary Schooling journey. Application forms will be included in the Enrolment Pack.Year 6

Day of Excellence – Arts Local Primary School students will be invited to attend Lowood SHS for a Day of Excellence.  Students will participate in activities that aim to extend their knowledge and skills.Years 4, 5 and 6
TERM 4
Early Term 4

HOD Junior Secondary

visits to Primary Schools

HOD Junior Secondary available to visit each school to connect with students, answer questions and complete activities to continue to ensure students are ready for high school. Year 6

Week 4

Day of Excellence – Food Specialisation Local Primary School students will be invited to attend Lowood SHS for a Day of Excellence.  Students will participate in activities that aim to extend their knowledge and skills.

Transition Days

8:45am – 3:00pm

(to enable bus travel)

Local Primary School students will spend two days at Lowood SHS.

Students will:

  • be introduced to key members of staff
  • be involved in school orientation activities
  • participate in get-to-know-you activities
  • attend timetabled classes

    Students are to make their own way to the Lowood SHS, the Minden School Bus service can be used

NOTE: Only students who have completed the Enrolment process are eligible to attend.

TERM 1 - 2024

Week 1

 

Introduction to 2023 Program

All students at Lowood SHS will be welcomed to the school and will:

  • be introduced to key members of staff
  • participate in the induction sessions
  • be reminded/introduced to the Lowood SHS expectations in relation to procedures and behaviours
