Dance troupe wins

Lowood State High School dance troupe have travelled to Brisbane to compete in the Brisbane Performing Arts Challenge (BPAC). Over 13 weeks they had been perfecting their Jazz, Contemporary and Musical Theatre dances, rehearsing lunchtimes, afternoons and weekends. Miss Drury is very pleased to say that all of their hard work paid off and our dancers represented the school excellently both on and off stage. The competition was fierce, some dance schools of excellence and dance academies attended on the day, but this did not slow our dance troupe down and it is with great pleasure that I can announce that the Contemporary dance piece won a well-deserved Highly Commended award, Jazz was awarded a Very Highly Commended and the Musical Theatre routine took out First place! This is certainly a momentous achievement.
We would like to give a big thanks to Mrs O’Dea, Miss
Stansfield and Mrs Pocock for lending their helping hands on
the day, and for making sure that everything ran smoothly.
We are also very grateful to the companies who sponsor our
dance troupe, without sponsorship this opportunity would not
have been able to go ahead. Thank you goes out to our
sponsors Fernvale/Lowood Bendigo Bank, CFMEU Mining and
Energy, and Minden Bus Services.
There will be another chance for you to see the wonderful work
of our dance troupe at the Arts Showcase evening in Term 3.
Please come and support the great work of our dancers, and
wish them the best of luck for their upcoming eisteddfods in July and August.
